Computers for Kids CFK collects unwanted computer and technology equipment from businesses and individuals. Usable items are sent to our refurbishment center and the remainder is sent to a local recycler where the components are separated into plastics, glass and metals and then sent on to the appropriate recycling facility. Our recycling program keeps tons of toxic electronic waste out of our local landfill system annually. Please recycle your old computer equipment at Computers for Kids. Computers for Kids is a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher, which licenses us to provide refurbished computers to low income families, schools and nonprofit organizations. A team of volunteer technicians runs diagnostic tests, cleans hard drives, installs hardware and loads a new license of the Microsoft operating system, Word and Excel. Each refurbished computer is thoroughly tested, then offered for sale to qualifying individuals. Each complete, internet-ready system includes a color monitor, keyboard, mouse, Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Student version (Word and Excel), anti-virus and anti-spyware software, educational and game software. In addition to a CD-ROM, each system includes a modem and network card, for internet access. System prices range from $50 to $125 depending on the processor, color and accessories and all systems are backed by a one-year warranty. |

Computers for Kids provides training to volunteer technicians, greatly increasing their job skill portfolio and ability to earn a better living. Our volunteer team includes individuals who want to learn more about PCs, Eagle Scouts and JobCorps participants. |
